1、出身はどこですか？ Where are you from ?   日本、東京都立川市 Tachikawa, Tokyo, Japan   2、いつから活動を? When you start ARTWORK  ?   1992年、17歳から活動スタート In 1992. It started since I was 17 years old.     3、きっかけは？エピソードなど。 How did you start it ? Do you have any back story  ? 日本のマンガや切手のデザインなどが小学生の頃から好きで良く見てたし、お絵描きも大好きな子供でした。   中学生になりスケボーと洋楽(ハードコアパンクやヘヴィメタル)に出会いました、 友達はスケボーに夢中でしたが、僕はスケボーやることも好きだけどそれ以上に スケボー板裏のデザインに使われてる 自由奔放なスタイルのアート達にすっかり魅了されたのです。80年代後半の頃でした。いつの日か自分のアートがデザインされた板が販売されることを夢見て、 仲間から使い古した板をもらっては自分のオリジナルキャラクターを描いて楽しんでました。   同時に、パンクやメタルのCDジャケットなどのアートワークにも同様の刺激を受けてました。   そんな十代の頃 17歳の時に能面作家の先生と出会ったことで、 弟子入りを決め、日本の伝統工芸、能面を作る道に進みます。師は芸術の道に進むよう僕に助言をくださいました。 僕にとってバリエーション豊かな能面達はまるで、日本のテレビコンテンツ、特撮ヒーロー物シリーズの敵キャラのデザインのような感覚で捉えていて、かっこいいっ！て思っていたのです。 一見、スケボー少年と伝統工芸は交わらない別物のように思えますが、僕にはいたって自然な流れで両方を同時に楽しんでいました。   能面制作が芸術の道を本気で選ぶきっかけとなりました。 また、並行して スケボーなどのエクストリームスポーツ界や 音楽関係のグラフィックデザインにも自分のアートを広めたいと思い、アクリル画制作とグラフィックデザインの活動をスタートしました。   その頃の東京でのクラブシーンの創生期は青春時代の真っ只中でしたので、レゲエ、ヒップホップといったブラックカルチャーにも刺激を受けることになり特にルーツレゲエとラスタファリズムを知ったことは僕の人生に欠かせない要素です。   高校卒業後、アートの専門学校で デザインと油絵を学びました。   1995年20歳の時、尊敬するボブマーリーの生まれた国、念願のジャマイカへ行きラスタシンガーのKEN BOBと出会い、彼の家に一カ月程滞在し、実際にラスタのライフスタイルを体験。彼らの考え方、ライフスタイルは 僕の作品制作だけでなく生き方にも良い影響を与えてくれました。   I have liked and seen often Japanese mangas and stamp designs since I was an elementary school student and was a kid who liked drawing much.   When I became a junior high school student, I met skateboarding and Western music (hardcore punk or heavy metal). My friends were into skateboarding, and of course I like skateboarding but was fascinated more freewheeling artworks printed behind skateboards. It was in the late 80’s. Dreaming that skateboards designed with my art are sold, I got used boards and enjoyed drawing my own original characters on them.     At the same time, I was also influenced by artworks on CD jackets of punk or metal as same as those of skateboarding.   In such my teenage years, I met a sensei of Noh mask creator when I was 17 years old. I decided to become his apprentice and proceeded my career to create a Japanese traditional craft, Noh mask. The teacher advised me to go into art. To me, various types of Noh masks made me feel like designing enemy characters of special effects hero series, one of Japanese television contents. I thought it’s cool. At first glance, a skateboard kid never deal with a traditional craft and lives in a different world, but I naturally enjoyed both of them all together.   Noh production motivated me to seriously go in the world of art. In parallel, to expand my art in the graphic design of music and extreme sports such as skateborading, I  started the activities of acrylic painting and graphic design.   At that moment it was the early days of club scene in Tokyo, I was in the middle of my younger days and was impressed by black culture such as reggae and hip hop. Particularly, knowing reggae and Rastafarianism is one of essential factors of my life.   After graduation of my high school, I learned design and oil paining at an art school.   In 1995 when I was 20 years old, I went to Jamaica, where Bob Marley whom I admire was born, and met a rasta singer, KEN BOB. And I stayed at his house for about a month and actually experienced the lifestyle of rasta. Their way of thinking and lifestyle brought good influence on not only my artwork but also my way of living.   4、インスピレーションは何ですか？ What is your inspection?   昔から僕はジャンルを問わず様々な音楽を聴いて来ました。音楽を聴いていると自然にインスピレーションが生まれて来るのです。   I’ve always listened to various types of music regardless of genre. When I listen to music, naturally inspiration comes out in my mind.   5、今までにやった個展やコラボは？ How ever done exhibition or any collaboration? ※長くなりそうなのでいくつかピックアップしてお応え致します。   [主な展示歴] ・2010 Exhibited my acrylic paintings at The National Art Center Tokyo . 2010年第66回現展初入選。六本木国立新美術館にてアクリル画の展示をしました。   ・2010 Exhibited my acrylic paintings at Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum. 2010年 東京都美術館にて開催、東京現展でアクリル画の大型展示をしました。   ・2012 Exhibited my acrylic paintings & No-masks at "Fountain Art Fair New York at the 69th Regiment Armory" held in New York in 2012.  2012年ニューヨークで開催された「Fountain Art Fair New York at the 69th Regiment Armory」にてアクリル画と能面の展示以外しました。   ・2009～2015 Painting show at an event sponsored by Fuji Television Network - "Let's Enjoy 2009 Autumn in the Tokyo Bay Redevelopment Area".   The work is on permanent exhibition at the Fuji Television Network Bay Shore Studio.  ・2009年フジテレビ主催「秋のイベント2009臨海副都心で楽しもう！」にてライブペインティングショーを行い、制作したアクリル画は2009年から2015年までフジテレビ湾岸スタジオにて常設展示されました。   ・2014 Exhibited my acrylic paintings ＆ Noh-masks at Hotel Cavalieri in Malta. 2014年マルタ共和国のカバリエリHOTELで能面とアクリル画の展示をしました。   ・2014 Noh-mask exhibition "Berlin meets Tôkyo" at Gutshaus Steglitz, Berlin, Germany. 2014年ドイツのシューテグリッツ城で開催された日独友好アートフェアに推薦され能面の展示をしました。   2010 Accepted for the 66th Genten for the first time and exhibited my acrylic paintings at The National Art Center at Roppongi.     2010 Exhibited my acrylic paintings at Tokyo Genten held at Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum.   2012 Exhibited my acrylic paintings and Noh masks at “Fountain Art Fair New York at the 69th Regiment Armory” Held in New York in 2012.   2009-2015 Painting show at an event sponsored by Fuji Television Network - “Let’s Enjoy 2009 Autumn in the Tokyo Bay Redevelopment Area.” The work is on permanent exhibition at the Fuji Television Network Bay Shore Studio.     6、これから行うプロジェクトはありますか？ Do you have any project coming up soon ?   2019年から始めた長期的なプロジェクトですが、 僕はアメリカの会員制旅行会社の旅行代理店をしています。 今後、会員の方に向けて僕が紹介していきたいと思う世界中のアーティスト達(BANDなどミュージシャンも含む)の個展やライブを鑑賞するための団体ツアーを将来的に計画していて、国内外で現在会員を募っています。 プロジェクトを始めた理由は、世界各地のサブカルなアンダーグランドシーンで活動してる魅力的なアーティスト達か無数にいるので、彼らのことを知って欲しいのです。 僕はサブカルチャーを愛しているアーティストですので、 "実際に世界のサブカルシーンを巡る旅行"という視点で楽しめるツアーを計画しています。   僕はこのプロジェクトを通して同時代を生きるアーティスト達との楽しい繋がりを構築し、 お互いの創作に刺激を与えあいたいとイメージしています。   There is a long project that has been started since 2019, and I’m doing an travel agency for a membership-based travel company in the United States. From now, I’m planning a group tour to visit solo exhibitions and live shows of artists, including bands and musicians, around the world whom I’d like to introduce for the members and I’m gathering memberships from home and abroad. The reason that I started this project is there are a lot of attractive artists working in sub-culture underground around the world and I’d like pople to know them. Because I am an artist who like sub-culture, I’m planning an amusing tour from the point of view of a travel that gives opportunities to visit sub-culture scenes around the world.   Through this project, I’ll establish the interesting network of artists in the same era and would like to influence each other.     7、好きなアーティストは？ Do you have any favorite artist ? This band holds its American tour every year. How was it ?    1995年に友人と僕の3人でバックパッカーの旅をした時にジャマイカでラスタと生活したあと二番目に訪れたのがNY、約半年程滞在しました。 僕らはNYに着いてから旅の資金が無くなってしまい、旅を続けるには仕事と住む処を見つける必要がありました。 マンハッタンの日本食レストランにソーシャルセキュリティナンバー無いけどバイトさせて欲しいと片っ端から尋ね歩き、ウェイターをしてました。しかし接客業になじめず店のボスとケンカしたりもしてバイト初日にわずか3時間でクビになり、合計三箇所の店で働きましたが、どの店でも上手くいかなかった。困り果ててアダルトビデオに出演するバイトまでトライしました。その時受け取ったギャラの嬉しさは最高だった。ウェイターの1週間分のギャラを数時間の撮影で手にしたから嬉しかった。 TONY読者の皆様その出演作みたいでしょ～ 僕の友達も鬼のように探したけど無理でしたよ～残念でしたーエヘヘ。VHSに時代で良かった。今だったら僕の初々しい演技がネットに残り、クレーム殺到してしまいますからね。 当時はルーズベルトジャクソンハイツで中国人女性の暮らす一軒家の半地下の部屋を借りて生活してました。仕事休みの日はSOHOに行って洋服屋やストリートアート観るのが楽しくて時間忘れてウロウロしていました。 今でも心から大切にしている当時の思い出が沢山あります。当時、お金は無かったけどNYの街の刺激がそんなことを忘れさせてくれました。ありがとうNY！ 本当に素敵な滞在でした。   2回目にNYを訪れたのは2012年、 "Fountain Art Fair New York at the 69th Regiment Armory" held in New York in 2012に参加した時です。 泊まったロングアイランドシティのホテルと会場の往復に滞在時間のほとんどを使ってましたが、展示以外の自由時間ではチェルシーのギャラリーを出来る限り色々観てまわったり、地下鉄から見えたグラフィティを見るために途中下車して歩いて観に行ったり、ブルックリンのマンチ王国に遊びに行ったことが素敵な思い出です。TO+NYの編集長との出会いがあったのもその時です。   In 1995, when two of my friends and I traveled around different countries as backpackers, we visited NY after Jamaica, where we live with rastas and stayed in about 6 months.   I didn’t have enough budget for our travel when we arrived at New York, we needed to find jobs and place to live. We asked every Japanese restaurant to let us work without social security numbers and worked as a waiter. However, we couldn’t get used to hospitality practices and fight with our boss, and get fired in three hours at the very first day. We worked in total three places, but it didn’t work well at each restaurant. We were at a complete loss, and we tried to participate in adult videos. It was the most pleasure moment when we received the first payment. We earned the same amount of working as a waiter for a week just for three hours. I think you, readers of TONY, want to see my videos. Even my friends tried to find them as much as possible, but we couldn’t. Sorry about it. Hahaha. Thanks to VHS age. If it was now, my naive play would remain on the internet and there would be a lot of claims for it. At that time, we rented the half basement room of the house where a Chinese lady lived at Roosevelt Jackson Heights. When the work was off, we went to SOHO and enjoyed wandering to see clothing stores and street arts without thinking of time. There are still a lot of memories that I truly care about. At that moment, I didn’t have enough money, but the impression of New York made me forget about it. Thank you, New York! It was a really nice stay.   My second visit to New York was in 2012 when I participated in “Fountain Art Fair New York at the 69th Regiment Armory.” I spent most of time commuting between the hotel in Long Island City and the exhibition location, but in my free time, I tried to visit art galleries in Chelsea as many as possible, got off a subway to see graffiti seen from the subway and visited Manchi guest house.
