Kei Umezawa, who has been drawing since childhood, currently shares his work primarily through Instagram. Alongside posting illustrations online, he has also exhibited at museums and clubs while working on commissioned illustration projects. Looking ahead, he plans to expand his activities further through merchandise and other creative developments.

What Umezawa values most in his work is the sense of “strength” that viewers feel at first glance. While many of his pieces center around female subjects, he continuously strives to create a balance where both strength and beauty coexist within the image. If he were to describe his art in a single word, it would be “passion.” True to that description, his works radiate an emotional intensity that can be felt even through a screen.

His artistic style has also evolved over time. In the beginning, his work was primarily monochrome, created with pencil and rooted in black-and-white expression. As his creative process deepened, he gradually incorporated digital techniques and color, developing the vivid visual style he is known for today — one that conveys emotion and energy with even greater impact.

Although he draws inspiration from many sources including film, anime, and music, the strongest influence comes from his father, a manga artist. Growing up surrounded by creative expression naturally shaped the foundation of his artistic identity.

Umezawa hopes that the “passion” at the core of his work reaches viewers directly and emotionally. Moving forward, he aims to expand beyond illustration alone, exploring multimedia projects and broader ways of expressing his creative world.

Blending strength with beauty, his work carries a quiet intensity that powerfully resonates with the emotions of those who encounter it.

幼少期から絵を描くことに親しみ、現在はInstagramを中心に作品を発表している梅澤慶。美術館やクラブでの展示活動に加え、クライアントワークとしてのイラスト制作も行い、今後はグッズ展開など活動の幅をさらに広げていく予定だ。

作品制作において大切にしているのは、「見た瞬間に伝わる力強さ」。女性をモチーフに描くことが多い一方で、その中に“美しさ”が共存するバランスを常に意識しているという。自身の作品を一言で表すなら、「情熱（パッション）」。その言葉通り、画面越しにも熱量が伝わる表現が印象的。

現在のスタイルに至るまでには変化もあった。初期は鉛筆によるモノクロ表現が中心だったが、制作を深める中でデジタルやカラーを取り入れ、より感情やエネルギーを強く伝える現在のビジュアルへと発展していった。

また、映画、アニメ、音楽など多方面から影響を受けながらも、最も大きなルーツとして挙げたのは漫画家である父親の存在。幼少期から自然と創作に触れてきた環境が、現在の表現へと繋がっている。

「作品の核である“情熱”が、そのまま見る人の心へ届いてほしい」と語る梅澤。今後はイラストという枠に留まらず、メディアミックスなども視野に入れながら、より幅広い形で自身の世界観を展開していきたいという。

力強さと美しさが共存するその作品は、静かな熱を持ちながら、見る者の感情を強く揺さぶるアートだ。
